No one  has influenced the contemporary Gospel Raggae genre in Nigeria in the last 20 years like Deacon Buchi. His style of delivery, content and fashion sense have become his trademark in the industry keeping him relevant for close to two decades.
Buchi was born in Kaduna, Northern Nigeria in  1963, to parents of Abia State origin. His early education began in Enugu were he attended Methodist College , Uzuakoli and Federal Government College , Enugu . In 1983, he proceeded to Lagos to study English Language and Literary Studies at the University of Lagos where he obtained a BA in 1986,he then bagged a MA in 1988. In his time in the university he was  casually involved in black activism through reggae club, and after listening to Oliver Thambo and the officials of ANC (African National Congress) from South Africa, at the club’s exhibition on the subject “Apartheid in South Africa” He  studied the black activist literature of  Wole Soyinka, Denis Brut Muta Baruka to mention a few. Buchi became devoted to improving human life through  reggae music. Buchi was involved in one of the dangerous campus confraternities. After graduating his Masters He began to lecture at the English department  in the same institution while running a PhD programe. He started out as a Disc Jockey [DJ] and teamed with His friend Ras Kimono to float Bukka  a raggae night club.

 The set time came and after a visit to Pastor Chris of Christ Embassy (who became his Pastor and life coach)  who not only answered all his questions elaborately but also taught him deeper revelations of the Higher life in Christ, he yielded to the higher calling to propagate the gospel of Jesus through singing and ministering in the reggae genre. He got Born again in 1992.He released his first album in 1999 fast foreword to His last album Red Gold & Green released in 2017 and he has been at  the fore of the Gospel Raggae scene ever since. touring several countries. And one thing that characterizes his outreaches are the remarkable number of cultist that get saved. He has won Multiple awards  including for Best Artiste  prestigious AMEN for Best in Gospel Category, 1999 Faith, POMP and TOMA Awards, Reggae Artiste and Gospel album of the year respectively. He also has some Loveworld Awards under his belt. 
He is Happily married to Jane and they are blessed with 4 beautiful kids. There's more to expect from the Gospel king of Raggae as the even as His recent Album Red, Gold and Green keeps resonating in the hearts of his ardent music followers.
